Acacia Senegal vs Acacia Seyal: Hashab vs Talha Gum Arabic
The difference between Hashab (Acacia senegal) and Talha (Acacia seyal) gum arabic in colour, solubility, taste and use, and why Hashab is preferred for nutritional products.

Both are sold as "gum arabic", but they come from different acacia species and behave differently.
| Hashab – Acacia senegal | Talha – Acacia seyal | |
|---|---|---|
| Appearance | Light amber, clear tears | Darker, more brittle pieces |
| Taste and smell | Very mild, almost neutral | Stronger |
| Solubility | Dissolves easily into a smooth solution | Less consistent |
| Emulsifying quality | High, the industry reference grade | Lower |
| Typical use | Food, beverages, nutrition, pharmaceuticals | Industrial and some food applications |
Why Hashab is preferred for daily fibre
For something you drink every day, taste, smoothness and consistency matter. Hashab gum arabic dissolves cleanly with almost no taste, which makes it easy to take in water or juice. It is also the grade most studied for nutritional use.
